JOB SUMMARY
A specialist engineering and technical services provider supporting the energy sector, with a strong focus on upstream oil and gas operations. The Core Flood Engineer is responsible for designing, executing, and interpreting core flood experiments to support reservoir evaluation and enhanced oil recovery (EOR) studies. This role plays a key part in generating high-quality SCAL data and providing insights into fluid flow behavior within reservoir rocks. Working closely with reservoir engineers and laboratory teams, the position contributes to improved reservoir characterization and recovery strategies. The successful candidate will combine strong laboratory expertise with analytical capabilities to deliver reliable and actionable results.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Design and conduct core flood and displacement experiments under reservoir conditions
• Perform SCAL studies, including relative permeability and capillary pressure measurements
• Operate and maintain core flooding laboratory equipment and ensure data integrity
• Analyze experimental results and provide interpretation to support reservoir engineering studies
• Collaborate with subsurface teams to integrate laboratory findings into reservoir models
• Support EOR studies, including waterflood and chemical injection processes
• Prepare detailed technical reports and present findings to stakeholders
• Ensure compliance with laboratory standards, safety protocols, and quality procedures
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Rock Physics, or a related discipline
• 3–5 years of experience in core flood testing and displacement experiments
• Experience working within laboratory environments supporting upstream oil and gas projects
EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS
Essential
• Hands-on experience with SCAL and core flooding experiments
• Strong understanding of fluid flow in porous media and reservoir rock properties
• Experience with waterflooding and EOR laboratory studies
• Proficiency in operating core flood laboratory equipment and systems
• Ability to interpret experimental data and translate findings into engineering insights
• Knowledge of laboratory data quality control and validation processes Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred
• Experience with carbonate and/or unconventional reservoirs
• Familiarity with digital rock analysis or advanced SCAL techniques
• Exposure to reservoir simulation workflows and integration of SCAL data
• Experience in international or multi-asset laboratory environments
