Research Engineer - Finance & Accounting

JOB SUMMARY  
The Research Engineer – Finance / Accounting is responsible for supporting financial analysis, reporting, and budgeting activities across technical and project teams. This role works closely with engineering, research, and operations teams to ensure accurate financial tracking, cost analysis, and reporting. The position plays a key role in translating financial data into actionable insights that support project planning, performance monitoring, and decision-making. 

The ideal candidate brings strong attention to detail, solid numerical skills, and the ability to work with both financial and operational data in a fast-paced, project-driven environment. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 
• Support financial analysis, reporting, and budgeting activities  
• Track project costs, expenditures, and financial performance  
• Prepare financial reports, summaries, and supporting documentation  
• Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and cost control processes  
• Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and insights  
• Collaborate with project and engineering teams to align financial tracking with operational activities  
• Maintain accurate financial records and ensure data integrity  
• Support ad hoc financial analysis and reporting requirements  

QUALIFICATIONS  
• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field  
• 1–3 years of experience in finance, accounting, or related roles 

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS 

Essential 
• Intermediate knowledge of financial principles and accounting processes  
• Ability to handle financial data, reporting, and analysis  
• Strong attention to detail and numerical accuracy  
• Proficiency in Excel or similar tools for data analysis and reporting  
• Good organizational and time management skills  
• Ability to work with structured data and maintain accuracy under deadlines  

Preferred 
• Exposure to financial analysis, budgeting, or cost tracking  
• Experience supporting business, engineering, or project teams  
• Familiarity with financial reporting tools or ERP systems  
• Experience in project-based or consulting environments  
• Exposure to energy, oil & gas, or technical industries
