Job Title: Resident Civil Engineer – Substations / Overhead Lines

Overview
We’re supporting the delivery of a major high-voltage infrastructure project in the Kingdom. The development involves the construction and extension of substations and overhead transmission lines as part of a large-scale grid upgrade. EPC contractors are handling the design, build, testing, and commissioning phases, with a dedicated on-site supervision team ensuring works are carried out to spec.

Role Summary
We are looking for experienced Resident Civil Engineers to join the on-site supervision team. These are full-time, site-based roles focused on the civil aspects of either substation or overhead line construction. The role involves daily interaction with EPC contractors, monitoring progress, enforcing quality and safety standards, and supporting project delivery in line with contractual obligations.

Responsibilities

• Supervise all civil works on site, ensuring alignment with technical specifications, drawings, and contract terms

• Monitor progress, perform inspections, and ensure adherence to quality and safety requirements

• Resolve issues on site in coordination with contractors and project leadership

• Review civil design documentation, method statements, inspection and test plans, and other technical submissions

• Validate design proposals in your discipline and contribute to cross-discipline reviews when required

• Assist with the preparation of technical inputs for claims or variations

• Manage reporting and documentation including site activity logs, NCRs, and progress records

• Participate in coordination and progress meetings and report weekly to the project management team

• Certify site inspections, joint measurements, and progress milestones to support invoicing

• Oversee HSE compliance and promote a safe and environmentally responsible site culture

• Support commissioning activities and ensure civil handover requirements are met

Requirements

• Degree-qualified Civil Engineer

• Minimum 10 years of experience in large-scale EPC projects involving high-voltage substations or overhead transmission lines (400kV or equivalent)

• Background in both design review and site supervision

• Strong working knowledge of international HSE standards and QA/QC protocols

• Confident communicator in English (spoken and written); Arabic is a plus but not required

These are site-based roles within a broader project delivery team. Successful candidates will be expected to work closely with other technical experts, both on site and remotely, to ensure safe and efficient project execution.
