Contractors are responsible for EPC delivery, and a dedicated client-side supervision team is being assembled to manage quality, safety, and compliance on-site during execution and commissioning.
Role Overview
This is a site-based role, focused on overseeing the full civil and electrical scope of substation works. You’ll act as the client’s representative on site, working closely with the EPC contractor to ensure works progress in line with the approved design, technical standards, and project timelines. You will also support design validation, issue resolution, documentation, and stakeholder coordination across all phases of construction.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee substation construction works to ensure adherence to specifications, drawings, safety protocols, and contractual obligations
Monitor progress on-site, lead inspections, and track HSE and quality compliance
Liaise with the contractor to address delays, non-conformities, or technical issues
Review construction drawings, contractor method statements, daily reports, and QA/QC documentation
Participate in design review and validate engineering documents within your area of expertise
Coordinate with internal teams and contractors for commissioning preparation and execution
Support resolution of design conflicts, field modifications, or RFI responses
Attend coordination meetings and provide detailed updates to project management
Maintain logs and documentation including progress reports, non-compliance records, and corrective actions
Oversee inspection and testing of installed systems, and support handover documentation
Certify work progress for invoicing, including material approvals, inspections, and joint measurements
Coordinate interface requirements for grid outages and energization
Promote a safe and environmentally responsible work environment throughout the project
Candidate Requirements
Degree-qualified Electrical Engineer
At least 10 years of experience delivering 400kV (or equivalent) substation projects under EPC frameworks
Strong technical background in both design review and on-site execution
Proven track record in construction supervision, inspections, and commissioning
Familiarity with international safety and quality standards in a live substation environment
English fluency is essential (spoken and written); Arabic language skills are an advantage but not mandatory
Additional Information
This role is part of a wider multi-discipline supervision team embedded across various project locations. Flexibility to be based at site full-time is essential. You will work closely with project management and support cross-functional collaboration throughout the execution phase.
