WeConnect Energy is currently recruiting for a 'Asset Manager, Global Chemicals' vacancy in the UAE.
JOB PURPOSE:
The Asset Manager is pivotal in collaborating on monitoring the operational and financial performance of the asset’s Solutions & Specialties segment, specifically the BEs Coatings & Adhesives and the group of Tailored Urethanes, Thermoplastic Polyurethanes, Specialty Films, and Elastomers.
This role ensures alignment with the organisations strategic vision by serving as the primary liaison between the company and the asset’s S&S leadership team, driving data-driven performance insights, strategic decision-making, and governance support to maximize the value of specialty chemicals investments
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Performance monitoring & partnering with asset to ensure Business Plan (BP) is achieved or exceeded
- Lead the collection, validation, and analysis of all operational and financial data, reports, and KPIs from the assets’ Business Entities (BEs) to ensure accuracy and actionable insights
- Monitor and track key BE performance metrics, identifying early trends, potential risks, and opportunities for improvement
- Engage in the asset’s key strategic and operations meetings at the BE level, ensuring understanding and alignment with ongoing performance and strategic discussions
- Support proactive performance management, co-developing BE-specific improvement plans with the asset’s leadership to optimize profitability and efficiency
- Work with Asset Manager/Associate Director to align asset’s growth strategy with long-term business priorities
- Assess and contribute to long-term growth plans for the BEs, including expansions, new product development, and M&A opportunities, in collaboration with the Business Performance Manager
- Engage with the asset’s leadership to evaluate high-potential investment opportunities and ensure alignment with the organisations performance materials roadmap
- Drive operational and commercial business planning by contributing BE-specific expertise to strategic decision-making
- Ensure seamless communication between Asset’s and the organisations leadership teams, facilitating the efficient flow of financial and operational updates
- Respond to high-priority, ad-hoc requests from senior leadership, providing well-researched insights and recommendations
- Support the Asset Manager/Associate Director in executing key initiatives, ensuring timely follow-through on strategic and operational priorities
- Leverage best practices and knowledge-sharing efforts to optimize performance across the specialty chemicals portfolio
- Liaise with the asset’s BE Leads for Coatings & Adhesives or group of Tailored Urethanes, Thermoplastic Polyurethanes, Specialty Films, and Elastomers, ensuring transparent and structured collaboration on performance tracking, growth initiatives, and strategic execution
- Assist the Asset Manager/Associate Director in engaging with the asset’s Head of Strategy & Portfolio Development by providing benchmarking on asset performance, capacity expansion tracking, and operational feasibility assessments, ensuring alignment of asset investments with the long-term strategy
- Provide operational support for discussions with the asset’s – Head of Planning & Product Supply and the Asset Commercial Manager by compiling production efficiency metrics, supply chain risk assessments, and plant utilization insights, enabling informed decision-making on capacity planning and resource allocation
- Maintain close collaboration with the Asset Associate Director, providing regular updates on BE performance, operational challenges, and strategic opportunities, ensuring alignment with the broader specialty chemicals agenda
- Ensure clear, structured communication with the Senior Director, Performance Materials, delivering data-driven insights and strategic recommendations on BE performance, risks, and growth initiatives
- Work closely with other Principals/Managers to identify synergies, share best practices, and drive efficiency across the asset’s business entities, ensuring a unified approach to performance improvement and strategic execution
- Collaborate with the Business Analysts to ensure accurate data collection, financial analysis, and performance tracking, supporting high-quality reporting and informed decision-making
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Minimum Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree or above in Chemical Engineering, Economics, Finance, Business Administration or a related field. Master’s degree in business administration is preferable
Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills
- 10+ years with P&L responsibility across relevant products (e.g., Engineering Plastics, Coatings & Adhesives, Tailored Urethanes, etc.) or similar value chains and understanding of both sales & marketing and operations
- Track record of regularly monitoring business entity performance (incl. vs competitors, market), developing full potential plan and actionable initiatives/recommendations
- Experience of synthesizing detailed operational / commercial insights into strategic actions and memos for senior stakeholders
