Legal Counsel

WeConnect Energy is currently recruiting for a Legal Counsel – Commercial & Procurement on behalf of a major energy company based in the UAE. This is a full-time, permanent expatriate role within a leading in-house legal team, supporting commercial operations across the oil and gas value chain.

The position sits within a highly integrated legal department and reports directly to the Associate General Counsel for Commercial, Procurement & Shared Services. The successful candidate will act as a lead legal advisor across complex commercial agreements and supply chain activities, while also providing mentorship to junior lawyers within the team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of industry-specific contracts (e.g., drilling, oilfield services, logistics, O&M, HSE, and technical consultancy)

• Preparing legal documents, including internal memos, notices, letters, and advisory notes.

• Advising on contract strategy, negotiation, and pre-/post-award legal matters

• Supporting the business in tendering, procurement, and commercial decision-making across the upstream and midstream energy value chain

• Engaging with cross-functional teams and external partners to support operational execution and legal compliance

Required Experience:

• 3–8 years of post-qualification legal experience

• Strong background in oil & gas, energy, or industrial project environments

• Previous experience with upstream or supply chain legal matters is highly desirable

• Proven track record of handling complex commercial contracts, ideally within the Middle East or in support of energy sector clients globally

• English law qualified (or other common law jurisdiction)
